Print advertising is a staple of any great marketing campaign. For decades, print advertising has proven that words and images directly affect buying decisions. It has also proven that when used effectively, print ads can generate instant sales and leads.
In this article we will focus on the content of your flyers, brochures, and newspaper inserts. What makes for good copy in a print ad? What works as a “call to action” and generates the best response?
Tips to improve the content on your flyers:
- Remember the 3 C’s - Clear, Concise, Convincing (Describe your product or service accurately and be specific)
- Use 1 to 3 Fonts (Fonts can add flair to your flyers, but overuse can cause headaches)
- Use Color (Choose fonts that stand out from your background images)
- Keep the Message Simple (Save Money, Carry-Out Special, Sale Saturday, etc)
- Focus on Benefits (All text should focus on the benefits of your product/service)
- Use High Resolution Images (300dpi images are a must. Never use images from websites)
- Use Eye-Catching Graphic (Generate an emotional response from the reader)
- Get to the Point (Make sure your images enable your reader to quickly tell what you are selling. Example: A pizza flyer that has pictures of the food)
- Less Text, More Images (Images “speak one thousand words”)
Flyer printing is a rewarding and creative experience for advertisers. If you follow basic print advertising techniques your designs will pay off in the form of phone calls and sales. Remember, quality is always critical to your success. Make sure your flyers are an accurate representation of your business. Your flyers speak for you when you aren’t there!

This is good advertisement information! My father is starting to advertise (I am really not at the age where I have to yet) and I am going to show him this!
